Updated Biography
Arturo Gil was born in New Orleans but grew up in San Juan,
Puerto Rico. On his 18th birthday he returned to New Orleans and worked in
the fields of radio and nightclub disc jockey. While working at different
radio stations he branched out from dj'ing and trained volunteers, produced
radio programs and even worked as a radio and short wave engineer.
Moving to Los Angeles in search of further radio work, Arturo
found employment as a computer operator and began to pursue acting as well,
finding jobs in low budget student and non-union films. He earned his
Screen Actors Guild card by working on the Mel Brooks' movie Spaceballs in
1985.
Film work for Arturo Gil includes appearances (in and out of
costume) in The Garbage Pail Kids Movie, The Dark Backward, Freaked
(starring and directed by Alex Winter), Leprechaun
II, Ghoulies IV, Dirty Work, The Fantasticks, Monkeybone, Wasabi Tuna, Looney
Tunes: Back in Action, Office Court and the upcoming films Do Not
Disturb and Agent One-Half. He also plays an Oompa Loompa in
the comedy spoof Epic Movie.
On television he has appeared in episodes of Get a Life, 3rd
Rock from the Sun, Honey I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show, Becker, The Norm Show,
The Parkers, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Just Shoot Me and Charmed.
Notable television appearances include an outstanding role on Ally McBeal
and regular work on Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Central series The Man Show. He
also continues to appears as a character named Machete on a Latin competition / music series entitled Estudio 2.
Arturo Gil worked on the series Saul
of the Mole Men (a show for which Alex Winter provided one of the voices)
and played an Oompa Loompa in the spoof comedy Epic Movie (after playing
an Oompa Loompa in the series Mind of Mencia). Arturo co-starred in
the 2008 film Agent One-Half and worked as a Chip Monk puppeteer in Role
Models. He also played the role of an Oompa Loompa in the film spoof Epic
Movie.
In 2009,
Arturo appeared in the film The Deported on the popular
television series Two and a Half Men. In 2010 he
had a role in the movie The Overnight and in 2011 he played
an evil elf in the film Hercules Saves Christmas.
