Solomon began his writing career at 21 when he joined the writing staff of the series "Laverne and Shirley."  He toured the country as a stand-up comic after leaving UCLA and contributed material to many top comedians, including Garry Shandling.  His association with that performer led to his appointment as executive story editor on Showtime?s highly-acclaimed series, "It?s Garry Shandling?s Show."

Solomon began his career as a joke writer, contributing material to many top comedians, including Garry Shandling.  He later became executive story editor on Showtime?s highly acclaimed series, "It?s Garry Shandling?s Show."  "Leaving Normal," a bittersweet character comedy Solomon wrote on his own, is currently filming in Canada and stars Christine Lahti and Meg Tilly with Ed Zwick ("Glory") as director.

Ed Solomon continues to be a successful screenwriter and has even ventured now into the arena of directing, making his feature film directorial debut in 2003 with the Billy Bob Thornton film Levity.  Notable scripts which Ed has either written or co-written include Mom and Dad Save the World (co-written with Chris Matheson), Super Mario Bros., Men in Black, Charlie's Angels and The In-Laws.  Ed not only made cameo appearances in both Bill & Ted films but also in Leaving Normal and Mom and Dad Save the World.  In 2007, he appeared as himself in a film about screenwriters in Hollywood titled Dreams on Spec.

The film Imagine That, which Ed co-wrote with B&T writing partner Chris Matheson and which stars Eddie Murphy, is scheduled for release in 2009.  Ed Solomon is also rewriting the screenplay for The Hardy Men, which is in pre-production and is producing the upcoming film Genie Bob.
